PANTHERS FALL 7-1 TO MISSOURI STATE
Waterloo, Iowa - Conference leader Missouri State showed the University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team why it is on top the Missouri Valley Conference, Sunday, topping the Panthers 7-1 on the back of Caroline Sweeney's hat trick.
The Panthers kept the Bears from scoring for nearly 15 minutes to open the game, but Sweeney's first goal of the game broke the scoreless trend. Three more MSU goals put the Panthers in a 4-0 hole 34 minutes into the match.
Katie MacBride (River Falls, Wisc./River Falls) found the goal in the 41st minute after a Gretchen Orcutt (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) pass sprung the freshman to open field and a score. The goal put the score at 4-1 at intermission.
Two more Sweeney goals and a 64th minute score gave the Bears a 7-1 lead in the second half. MSU held the lead and took home the 7-1 win.
With the win, MSU moves to 8-4-1 on the season, 2-0 in the MVC. The Panthers fall to 0-12-0 on the season, 0-2 in the MVC.
