2013: Started in the first five games for the Panthers before suffering a season-ending injury against North Dakota State (10/5) … finished the season with 56 tackles … was averaging 11.2 tackles per game prior to his injury … led the team in tackles with 12 in UNI’s win over Iowa State (8/31) … had 12 tackles and notched his first fumble recovery touchdown for 20 yards against Drake (9/7), earning MVFC Defensive Player of the Week honors … racked up a season-high 13 tackles against Northern Colorado (9/21) and was named College Sports Madness MVFC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time … finished with 11 tackles and one sack for seven yards against No. 1 North Dakota State (10/5) … was named to the Capitol One Academic All-District first team ... earned MVFC Scholar-Athlete first team honors.
2012: Saw action in 11 games and started five … finished tied for first on the team in tackles with 85, including 46 unassisted and 39 assisted … notched one tackle for loss of yards and four pass breakups … recorded 10-plus tackles in three different games … notched a season high 15 tackles against Youngstown State (9/22) … finished with 12 tackles against North Dakota State (9/29) … was named to the 2012 MVFC All-Newcomer Team.
Prior to UNI: Redshirted at the University of Kansas in 2010 ... named special teams compete team player of the week vs. Nebraska ... suffered a leg injury and did not see action as a redshirt freshman in 2011.
High School: Was an all-state first-team selection as a defensive back as a senior ... earned second-team honors as a junior ... recorded 320 career tackles to go along with nine interceptions, 16 PBUs and seven forced fumbles ... as a senior he had 10 tackles, four interceptions, nine PBUs, five tackles for loss and three forced fumbles ... also played quarterback and threw for 1,500 yards while rushing for more than 700 yards ... team was state runner-up his senior season ... as a junior quarterback he passed for 254 yards and ran for 142 more ... played safety, linebacker, quarterback, running back and long snapper during his prep career ... also competed in baseball, basketball and track.
