2017:  First Team All-Central Region pick by the NFCA at pitcher/utility ... Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year ... first-team all-MVC pick ... member of the MVC All-Tournament Team ... pitched 132.1 innings while appearing in 28 games ... led the league during the conference season with 1.23 ERA ... held opposing league batters to .174 batting average ... went 14-2 with 102 strikeouts ...  pitched 12 complete games ... struck out 10 and tossed a five-inning no-hitter against Evansville (April 1) ... tossed a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in a 5-0 win over Bradley (April 14) ... pitched the final three innings of an 8-2 win at Illinois State (May 7) to earn a save and allow the Panthers to clinch a share of the 2017 MVC regular season title ... allowed two runs or less in 16 of her 18 starts ... batting average of .292 with three home runs ... slugging percentage of .438 ... had five multi-hit games ... went 3-for-4 with five RBI and a double vs. Drake (April 18).
2016: Saw action in 43 games, including 27 contests as a pitcher ... she made 17 starts as a pitcher and went 16-7 with a 2.74 ERA ... she struck out 62 batters ... she hit six home runs and drove in 28  with a .363 batting average ... posted 37 hits and 16 runs to go along with a .588 slugging percentage ... credited with five RBI and she went 2-for-2 with a home run vs. Montana (Feb. 19) ... went 4-for-4 with three RBI at Arkansas (March 4).
2015: Tossed 97.1 innings while appearing in 24 games and starting 16 contests… recorded five complete games… allowed just two hits and one run in a 9-1 win over Southern Illinois (3/28)… threw six innings against Indiana State, allowing no earned runs in a 9-1 victory (5/2)… hit a three-run homerun against Iowa State (4/1).
2014: Appeared in 22 games for the Panthers… batted .321 in 28 appearances at the plate… homered and drove in four runs against Southern as a designated hitter in a 15-0 win (2/14)… drove in two runs during as a pinch hitter in a 6-1 win against SIUE (3/18)… pitched five innings with a 4.20 ERA.
Buchanan is a two-time all-conference pitcher at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Ind. Buchanan helped her prep squad to the 2010 Indiana 4A state championship. In the 2010 postseason, Buchanan tallied a 1.17 earned run average and hit .455 at the plate. She has played travel softball for the Illinois Chill Gold (2010-11), Indiana Shockwaves (2009-10), ASA Indiana State Champions (2010), and the Indy Diamond Chix (2005-09). She is a National Junior Honor Society member with a 3.37 grade point average. She plans to major in communications at UNI.
"Alyssa is a well-rounded pitcher with very good speed and movement," Jacobs said. "She is a great competitor on the mound and has pitched against some of the best hitters in the country playing for the Illinois Chill travel ball organization. She will add high quality depth to our pitching staff with the ability to lead the team."
