Bout by Bout Notes

197 - Isaiah Patton led much of the bout, but fell 7-3 to Utah Valley's Tanner Orndorff. He is the first Panther to be eliminated.

165 - Austin Yant defeated the No. 3 seen Randy Menewaether II to advance to the Consolation. He will wrestle the fifth seed Cole Moody from Wyoming.

184 - Taylor Lujan earned a 4-0 shutout win over Iowa State's Marcus Coleman to advance to Sunday evening's championship bout. He will wrestle SDSU's Zach Carlson, the No. 3 seed, in the final. In the regular season, Lujan beat Carlson 10-3.

174 - Bruce Steiert picked up a 4-1 win over Oklahoma State's Joe Smith. He will wrestle Oklahoma's Anthony Mantanona in the final. They are the 1 and 2 seeds.

149 - Max Thomsen lost a hard-fought 1-0 decision in the semifinal. He nearly had a takedown at the buzzer, but dropped the decision.

141- Michael Blockhus fell to Iowa State's Ian Parker and will drop to the consolation bracket.

133 - Jack Skudlarczyk avenged a regular-season loss with a 10-7 win over Iowa State's Todd Small to advance to the consolation quarterfinal. He faces West Virginia's Lucas Seibert in the next round. He majored him earlier this year.

125 - Schwarm picked up a pinfall to start the evening session off right for the Panther Train. He faces Joey Thomas from West Virginia in the Consalation quarterfinal for the chance to face Phippen in the consolation semis.

Team - The Panthers currently sit fifth with 38 team points. Four Panthers, Michael Blockhus, Max Thomsen, Bryce Steiert and Taylor Lujan will wrestle in the semifinals.

285 - Isley drops a 3-1 sudden victory decision to Wyoming's Brian Andrews in the quarterfinals.

184 - Lujan survived a scare from Air Force's Jacob Thompson and won 11-10 to advance to the semifinals.

174 - Steiert shut out Air Force's Cody Surratt 8-0 for a Major Decision and his second bonus-point win of the day.

165 - Austin Yant drops a 17-1 Tech Fall to Oklahoma State's Travis Wittlake.

149 - Thomsen picks up the second pin of the day for UNI with a win over Greg Gaxiola (Fresno St.) in 2:34.

141 - Michael Blockhus tops Caleb Reah (WVU) to advance to the semifinals.

133 - Jack Skudlarczyk falls 2-0 to Wyoming's Montorie Bridges 2-0.

197 - Isaiah Patton drops a 6-3 decision to NDSU's Cordell Eaton.

184 - Lujan picked up a 10-4 win over UVU's Seely. He advances to the quarterfinals.

174 - Steiert earned a second-period pin (3:41) to pick up the first pin of the tournament for the Panthers.

165 - Yant earns a 1-0 win in his opener to advance to the quarterfinals. His second period escape was the points of the bout.

157 - Paden Moore fell to Jacob Wright of Fresno State 10-2.

141 - Blockhus grabs four takedowns and earns a 10-5 win over Jeffries in the opener.

141 - Blockhus wrestles on mat four against Wyoming's Jeffries.

125 - Schwarm drops his opener 4-2 and will move to the consolation bracket.

125 - Jay Schwarm will open the tournament for the Panthers on mat 3 against Air Force's Cody Phippen. The two did not meet in the regular-season.

Pre-Tournament Notes

• There were changes to brackets at 133 and 157 after last night's coaches' meeting. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds were switched and Jack Skudlarlarczyk will now face the winner of Wyoming's Montorie Bridges and Fresn State's Lawrence Saenz in the quarterfinals. At 157, the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds were switched. It will not impact Paden Moore's first or second round opponents.
