Dinnebier captures first place, Panthers place 15th as a team

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI men's golf team finished their play at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Illinois, on Tuesday. The Panthers finished in 15th place at the 17-team tournament. The team that won the invitational was Bradley with a total score of 837 (-15). The individual winner was your very own Panther, Tanner Dinnebier, with a score of 203 (-10).
UNI as a team finished 10th in the tournament for birdies with 44. Leading the way for the third time this season for the Panthers was Tanner Dinnebier. Dinnebier put together the best round of his career at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, firing a 203 (-10) over the three-round tournament. Dinnebier won the tournament by one stroke, UNI's first outright tournament champion since 2017, and first tournament champion since 2022. Last season, Dinnebier fired off four total rounds in the 60s. At the Dolenc, he put together three-straight rounds in the 60s (68-67-68), the first time a Panther has had all three rounds of a tournament in the 60s since Jordan Weber at the Agua-Caliente Invite in 2007 (67-67-64).
The second-best tournament for the Panthers was a score of 225 (+12) by Anthony Galvin. Galvin secured himself five birdies throughout the tournament. Next is Sam Wahman, who fired a finishing score of 227 (+14). Wahman was the only Panther to score an eagle in the tournament. He achieved that back on hole one, in the first round. Zach McCarty and Drew Spooner both shot 228 (+15) to finish the tournament. McCarty scored eight birdies and six birdies for Spooner.
