UNI soccer begins MVC play at Indiana State

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI soccer team will open Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play on the road on Sunday as it heads to Terre Haute to take on the Indiana State Sycamores.Â
Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT at Memorial Stadium with live coverage of the game on ESPN+.Â
Northern Iowa returns to action after ten days away from competition. The Panthers fell to St. Thomas, 2-1 last Thursday in its non-conference finale at the UNI Soccer Field.Â
Ella Ubben netted her first goal of the season on a penalty kick for UNI's lone score of the contest. Allison Flies led the Panther charge with four shot attempts, followed by Abi Roberts three, two of which were on goal. Kailey O"Brien and Ubben each notched one shot attempt on goal each. Hailey Luedtke meanwhile would finish the day with three saves in goal for the Panthers.
Sunday will mark the 28th all time meeting between Northern Iowa and Indiana State on the pitch, with the Sycamores currently leading the series 12-10-6. The last matchup between the two programs' in 2025 ended in a 3-3 tie at the UNI Soccer Field. The Panthers and Sycamores also tied in their last meeting at Memorial Stadium in 2024 with a scoreless 0-0 contest.Â

SCOUTING INDIANA STATE
The Sycamores are coming off a 2-1 road win over Wright State. Freshman Emily Lopez has netted five goals in 2026, including the game-winning score against Wright State on Sunday.Â
Sophomores Addyson Warner and CharlieBleu Saunders each have four goals on the young season. Goalkeeper Sofie Hansen has recorded 23 saves in eight games started for the Sycamores.Â
