MILWAUKEE --- Former Panther men's basketball standout AJ Green wrapped up his fourth season in the NBA over the weekend with the Milwaukee Bucks, doing so in record breaking fashion.
Green, a 2022 UNI graduate and two-time Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Year, set both the franchise's single-game and single-season three-point field goals record to close out the Bucks' 2025-26 season.
On Friday, April 10, Green sank a career-high 11 three-pointers in a 125-108 win over the Brooklyn Nets, finishing with a career-best 35 points, along with new career-high marks as well in rebounds (6) and assists (4). The franchise's previous record for three-pointers in a game was held by both Damian Lillard and Ray Allen (10).
Green followed up his single-game record breaking outing with five three-pointers in Milwaukee's 126-106 loss on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday with his 232rd triple of the season, breaking Ray Allen's single-season franchise record of 229 from the 2001-02 season.
A Cedar Falls native, Green finishes the season with a career-best 10.4 points per game on 42.6% shooting from the field, as well as 41.9% shooting from beyond the three-point arc. He also posted 2.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.5 steals per game after appearing in 78 games this year with 68 starts, all high water marks for his career.
Green was a three-time All-MVC guard from 2018 to 2022 for Northern Iowa and was also named the MVC's Freshman of the Year in 2019. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Bucks in 2022 and was part of Milwaukee's 2024 NBA Cup title team for the league's in-season tournament.
Green's father, Kyle, was recently named the new head men's basketball coach at UNI after previously spending 16 years as an assistant coach with the Panthers (2001-03, 2006-11, 2012-21) before spending the last five years as an assistant coach at Iowa State. AJ's sister, Emerson, also played basketball at UNI from 2020 to 2025.
This past February, Green became the first player in UNI men's basketball history to have his jersey retired, which occurred during a pregame ceremony prior to a home win over Drake.
