CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- Due to forecasted blizzard conditions in the Cedar Valley and east central Iowa areas, the UNI men's basketball team has canceled its watch party for the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Selection Show, presented by Amy Wienands Real Estate and Western Home Communities.
The safety and well-being of Panther fans is a top priority during active winter conditions. Today's decision was made after consultation with the National Weather Service - Des Moines and along the same lines as local community business owners and event organizers' decisions given the possibility of dangerous visibility and road conditions.
Fans can still catch the Panthers' seed, first round opponent and location live on CBS beginning at 5 p.m. CT this afternoon.
The 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament will begin with the First Four play-in games on March 17-18 in Dayton, Ohio, with the first round running March 19-20 and second round March 21-22 in various locations. Sweet Sixteen games (March 26-27) and Elite Eight action (March 28-29) will occur the following week with the Final Four (Apr. 4) and national championship game (Apr. 6) set to be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
