UNI softball bested by Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Arkansas — The Panther softball team opened a Southern road trip with a midweek matchup at Central Arkansas.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Sugar Bears came out hot with a four-run bottom of the first, including a three-run home run. Five runs in the bottom of the second inning, including a three-run triple, pushed the Central Arkansas lead to nine.
The Panther defense held Central Arkansas to no runs in the bottom of the third, but the Sugar Bears put up three in the bottom of the fourth to take a 12-0 lead.
The UNI offense was unable to add any runs in the top half of the fifth inning as the Cats were defeated by a five-inning run-rule, 12-0.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will participate in the Best on the Bayou Tournament, hosted by Louisiana-Monroe, this weekend, featuring a pair of matchups on Friday and Saturday, and a single contest on Sunday.
