CEDAR FALLS, Iowa ---Â The UNI soccer team will make their second conference road trip of the season on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Normal to take on the Illinois State Redbirds.Â
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT at Adelaide Street Field with live coverage of the game on ESPN+.Â
Northern Iowa returns to action after securing their first win of the season last Sunday in a 1-0 victory over Belmont. Ella Ubben scored the winning point for the Panthers with a right-footed goal in the 34th minute. Goalkeeper Hailey Luedtke recorded a career-high tying ten saves in the contest and earned MVC Goalkeeper of the Week honors. Ubben and Morgan Smith led UNI's offense with one shot on goal each. Shaelee Franck and Ubben led the Panthers with two shot attempts each in the contest.Â
Luedtke, who posted her first career win and shutout in goal last Sunday against the Bruins, currently leads the MVC in both total saves (52) and saves per match (6.5).
Sunday will mark the 30th meeting between Northern Iowa and Illinois State on the pitch. The Redbirds lead the all-time series 19-9-1, winning the last matchup in 2025 by a margin of 1-0 at the UNI Soccer Field. The last matchup at Adelaide Street Field in 2024 ended in a 1-1 draw. The Panthers last win over the Redbirds was an 8-1 win in 2023.Â

SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATEÂ
Illinois State is coming off a 2-0 win over UIC last Sunday at Flames Field. Sosi Dadekian scored the first goal for the Redbirds on a penalty kick, followed by a goal from Ava Watson in the 54th minute.Â
Watson leads the team in scoring on the season with nine points and four goals. Rylaan Law, Rowann Law and Maggie Dowling each have two goals on the season. Goalkeeper Madi Valenti has registered 36 saves with seven goals allowed. Â
