CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI men's basketball team rounds out the week with another key Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) road trip on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers visit the Bradley Braves.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT at Carver Arena in Peoria with live coverage available on ESPNU and the Panther Sports Radio Network (93.5 The Mix) with J.W. Cox and Kevin Boyle on the call.
UNI trails Bradley in the all-time series, 37-40 and will look to snap a four-game road skid against the Braves in Peoria, seeking its first win over Bradley at Carver Arena since the 2019-20 season. The Panthers enter the weekend in a tie with Illinois State for second in the MVC standings, one-game back of first-place Murray State.
Northern Iowa will look to bounce back after a tough 78-65 loss at home on Wednesday to Belmont. UNI struggled to contain the Bruins' three-point shooting and the league's second-best scoring offense despite a late first half push.
Ben Schwieger and Max Weisbrod led the Panthers with 12 points each, with Weisbrod sinking season-high four made three-pointers. Leon Bond III posted ten points and seven rebounds, with Trey Campbell tallying nine points and Will Hornseth eight points. Kyle Pock and RJ Taylor each finished with five points in the loss.
UNI leads all of Division I men's basketball in scoring defense with 58.6 points allowed per game, giving up 70 points just twice this season. The Panthers are 9-0 when holding opponents to 60 or fewer points this year.
Northern Iowa ranks second in Division I in three-point percentage defense, limiting opponents to just 25.4% from beyond the arc. Entering their game against Bradley, the Panthers have held six of their last seven opponents under 20% from three-point range.
UNI's scoring defense is currently on pace for the fourth-best mark since transitioning to a Division I program (1980-81). The Panthers have made the NCAA Tournament each of the previous three seasons when giving up 60 points or fewer.
The Panthers is also the 23rd in the nation in field goal percentage defense (.390) and fourth in the MVC with 13 turnovers forced per game.
Campbell looks to continue to add to the record book against the Braves. Having scored his 1,000th career point in December, Campbell's 112 career starts at UNI are seventh-most in program history and the most among all active players in the MVC.
Hornseth looks to continue to be a strong presence inside the paint, recently taking over as UNI's career shooting percentage leader (64%) with a minimum of 100 made shots. Schwieger and Bond meanwhile look to continue their march to 500 points in their UNI careers, looking to become the 116th and 117th players in team history to reach the milestone.
SCOUTING BRADLEY
The Braves wrap up a short two-game homestand hosting the Panthers after a 93-66 rout of Drake on Wednesday night. Bradley enters Saturday's matchup with a 4-2 mark in league play.
Led by 11th year head coach Brian Wardle, the Braves have reached the NIT in each of the previous three seasons, including a quarterfinal run in 2025.

Jaquan Johnson leads the Braves with 16.9 points per game while also leading in league in free throws made (88), free throws attempted (113) and total points scored (288). Alex Huibregtse has posted 11.8 points a game, while Demarion Burch has tallied 11.5 points.
