Five medal for UNI wrestling at 2025 Soldier Salute

CORALVILLE, Iowa --- The UNI wrestling team saw six athletes record top-eight podium finishes on Sunday as the Panthers competed at the Soldier Salute at Xtream Arena in the first open tournament of the 2026 calendar year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Izzy Moreno led the way for the Panther Train, securing a third place at 174 pounds, capped by a 2-0 win over Lane Foard (Wyoming). Jack Thomsen took fourth at 165 pounds with a 3-2 record on the weekend, with Bowen Downey earning fifth-place at 125 pounds, topping Sefton Douglass in sudden victory, 7-4.
At 141 pounds, freshman Max Brady recorded his first career win over a ranked opponent, defeating No. 23 Zeke Seltzer (Missouri) to take seventh place. Jace Hedeman meanwhile finished eighth at 133 pounds.
UP NEXT
The Panthers return to dual action next weekend, Jan. 9-10 for the NWCA Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships in the UNI-Dome. Brackets and start times have yet to be announced. Live coverage of the event can be found on FloWrestling.
