CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI men's basketball returns to Cedar Falls on Tuesday night as the Panthers seek the regular season sweep against the UIC Flames in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT inside the McLeod Center with live coverage available on the MVC TV Network/ESPN+ and the Panther Sports Radio Network (93.5 The Mix) with J.W. Cox and Kevin Boyle on the call.
Single-game and season tickets for the 2025-26 men's basketball regular season can be purchased online through the UNI Ticket Office, by calling 319-273-4849 or through email at tickets@uni.edu. College students from any school can also receive free admission to the game by showing their school IDs at the gate.
The Panthers topped the Flames in their first meeting of the season in Chicago by a score of 60-54, seeking to sweep UIC in the regular season for a second consecutive season. The Panthers hold a 16-12 lead in the all-time series against the Flames with three straight victories over UIC.
Northern Iowa will look to bounce back after dropping consecutive games for the first time this season following a 75-69 loss at Bradley on Saturday. In a back-and-forth contest, UNI stayed within a six-point margin but struggled to score in the final five minutes despite 42.4% shooting.
Trey Campbell finished the night with a game-high 18 points on eight-of-16 shooting with Ben Schwieger posting a 12 point, ten rebound double-double, his first of the season. Leon Bond III notched 11 points with seven rebounds in the loss, as Ismaël Diouf and Max Weisbrod each tallied nine points.
UNI leads all of Division I men's basketball in scoring defense with 59.5 points allowed per game, giving up 70 points just three times this season. The Panthers are 9-0 when holding opponents to 60 or fewer points this year.
Northern Iowa also leads Division I in three-point percentage defense, limiting opponents to just 25.7% from beyond the arc. Entering their game against UIC, the Panthers have held six of their last eight opponents under 20% from three-point range.
UNI's scoring defense is currently on pace for the fourth-best mark since transitioning to a Division I program (1980-81). The Panthers have made the NCAA Tournament each of the previous three seasons when giving up 60 points or fewer. The Panthers are also 25th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (.392).
Campbell looks to continue to add to the record book against the Braves. Having scored his 1,000th career point in December, Campbell's 113 career starts at UNI are seventh-most in program history and the most among all active players in the MVC.
Will Hornseth looks to continue to be a strong presence inside the paint, recently taking over as UNI's career shooting percentage leader (64%) with a minimum of 100 made shots. Schwieger and Bond meanwhile look to continue their march to 500 points in their UNI careers, looking to become the 116th and 117th players in team history to reach the milestone.
SCOUTING UIC
The Flames make the trip to Cedar Falls on a two-game winning streak, including a 63-59 overtime upset win at Illinois State on Saturday, enough to earn head coach Rob Ehsan his 100th career win.
UIC boasts the top offensive rebounding squad in the MVC with 14 offensive boards per game, 19th most in the country. The Flames also bring a crafty defense that has forced 14.2 turnovers per game this season, along wit 4.1 blocks per game.
Ahmad Henderson II leads UIC in scoring with 13.1 points per game, with Andy Johnson posted 12.8 points. Mekhi Lowery leads the Flames on the boards with a team-high 6.1 rebounds along with 8.6 points, while Abdul Momoh has notched 26 total blocks on the season, fourth-most in the league.
