CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI soccer team will close out the opening month of the season on Sunday as the Panthers play host to the NAIA Viterbo V-Hawks at the UNI Soccer Field on Senior Day.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT with live coverage of the match available on ESPN+. Fans in attendance will be treated to a new concessions stand this year on-site, located in the northwest corner of the field.
Prior to the match, seniors Olivia Knoepfle, Macy Smith, Sydney Burskey, Sophie Hoffmann, Caroline Hazen, Sophia Balistreri and Kennedy Buntenbach will be recognized for their time and commitment to the Panther program.
Northern Iowa has won all five meetings against the V-Hawks in a series dating back to 2016. The Panthers put on an impressive showing against Viterbo last August at home with a 9-0 shutout, tied for the second-most goals scored in program history in a single match. UNI won its home opener last Sunday with a 4-0 victory over Western Illinois and will look to remain unbeaten on its home field.
The Panthers will look to bounce back after a tough 1-0 loss at St. Thomas on Thursday in the Twin Cities. Despite quick speed and seven second half shot attempts, St. Thomas was able to score the lone goal of the match in the 49th minute of play to hand UNI its second loss of the year. Camarena and Hazen both led UNI with three shots attempts each, while Milan Cordone and Knoepfle contributed one shot apiece. In goal, Buntenbach notched three saves in the loss.
In the record books, a pair of Panthers look to continue to make an impact and climb UNI's record books. Knoepfle enters Thursday's match one assist shy of tying Ashley Harrington's (2020-23) career records for assists, as well as games with an assist. Camarena meanwhile sits tied for ninth in UNI history with seven career assists.

SCOUTING VITERBO
The V-Hawks will play their first match in eight days on Sunday, entering with a 1-1-0 record following a 3-0 loss against St. Thomas (Fla.) on Aug. 23. Viterbo's lone win of the year came in its season opener on Aug. 21 in a 4-3 victory over the College of Saint Mary (Neb.).
Led by 17th year head coach Scott Pirnstill, the V-Hawks are coming off an 8-9-1 record and 5-5-1 conference mark with an eighth place finish in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Viterbo qualified for the CCAC Tournament, but fell to St. Ambrose in the opening round in a 1-0 decision.
All three of Viterbo's goals this season have come from three different players, with Kelly Brynlee, Elle Hager and Paxten Bristol all finding the back of the net. In goal, Madison Zilm has started both matches for the V-Hawks, recording an .833 save percentage with an average of two goals allowed this year.
