Five-time All-American and 2024 NCAA champion becomes second Panther in the last three seasons to be recognized by CSC.
GREENWOOD, Ind. --- Former UNI wrestler Parker Keckeisen added another prestigious academic honor to his Panther legacy on Wednesday as he was named a Third Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
The honor, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom, separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. To be eligible for All-American honors, student-athletes must have also been named CSC Academic All-District.
Keckeisen's recognition marks the 61st CSC Academic All-American selection in UNI Athletics history, and just the fourth time a Panther wrestler has received the honor, joining Gary Steffensmeier (1992), Nick Baima (2007) and Tyrell Gordon (2023).Â
Notably, Keckeisen is the fifth different Panther student-athlete to earn CSC Academic All-American honors during the 2024-25 school year for UNI, the most in a single academic year in school history, This year's Panther student-athletes to do so include Lauren Heinisch (soccer), Kira Fallert (volleyball), Tytan Anderson (men's basketball) and Kate Lappe (softball). The full list of Northern Iowa's CSC Academic All-Americans can be found below.
A Glendale, Wisconsin native, Keckeisen concluded one of the most impressive careers in UNI wrestling history this past March, earning his program record fifth Division I All-American honors following his fifth Big 12 Conference title at 184 pounds and a third consecutive appearance in the NCAA finals. Posting a 28-1 record on the 2024-25 season, he finished his career with 133 wins, third-most in UNI history behind only Kirk Meyers and Rich Powers (134) as well as a program-best .956 career winning percentage and five of the top ten winningest single seasons in team history.Â
Keckeisen notably recorded 90 career bonus-point victories, a 59-match winning streak from 2023 to 2025 and 47 career dual wins, including a perfect 37-0 dual record against Big 12 dual challengers. His efforts in his final collegiate season were a catalyst in Northern Iowa's historic 2024-25 season, which saw the Panthers post a 14-1 dual record, finish second at the Big 12 Championships and finish in the top ten at the NCAA Division I Championships for the first time since 1962.
A UNI graduate this past semester with a degree in construction management, Keckeisen was also named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American, CSC Academic All-District Team member and member of the Academic All-Big 12 Team this past year. He was also named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Dec. 4, 2024.
