WATERLOO, Iowa — The UNI women's tennis team closed out its weekend homestand with a 5-2 victory over Valparaiso Sunday morning at the Black Hawk Tennis Club in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play.

The Panthers got off to a strong start, sweeping doubles play to secure the first team point. Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso cruised to a 6-1 win, while Kim Zizek and Andjela Raznatovic posted a 6-3 victory. The number three doubles match was ruled a no contest, but UNI had already locked up the point with back-to-back convincing wins.

In singles action, UNI continued its momentum, earning wins at four of six positions. Cardoso picked up a straight-set win at number two singles, defeating Jolene Fernandes, 7-5, 6-3, while Zizek remained sharp with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the number three spot against Brynn Steven. Raznatovic followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the number four spot to give the Panthers their fourth point.

Lasya Mylavarapu was credited with a win at the number six singles due to no contest from Valparaiso, securing UNI's fifth and final team point. Valparaiso earned wins at number one and five singles with Moira Silva outlasting Dalecka in a tight three-set battle. Lillian Kelly narrowly defeated Abbie Peterson in two close sets.
