UNI wrestling leads the nation in NWCA Scholar All-American selections

MANHEIM, Pa. --- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) on Wednesday announced its 2025 NCAA Division I Scholar All-American selections, celebrating student-athlete accomplishments on and off the mat.
Northern Iowa led the way with 12 selections this season, the most among Division I programs after a breakout season that saw the Panthers win 14 duals, finish second at the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa and place ninth at the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia.
Nominees for this honor are determined by both academic record and competition records. Student-athletes are eligible for Scholar All-American status with a top-eight NCAA Championship finish and a 3.00 grade-point average (GPA), an NCAA qualifying spot and a 3.2 GPA, a conference championship qualifying spot and 3.50 GPA or a 3.50 GPA with at least 15 matches completed with a 60% winning percentage.
"The NWCA is proud to recognize these outstanding individuals who embody excellence in both athletics and academics," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer.

Of UNI's 12 honorees, eight qualified for the 2025 NCAA Championships, including two NCAA All-Americans and all three Big 12 Conference champions.
