CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI women's tennis team gears up for a competitive week on the road, traveling to Tennessee for a pair of matchups. The Panthers will take on UT Southern on Wednesday, March 19, in Pulaski before heading to Nashville to face Belmont on Saturday, March 21.
UNI looks to gain momentum after hard-fought matches against Omaha last Friday. Despite the 7-0 final score, UNI battled closely throughout the game, highlighted by a strong double performance from Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso, who secured a 6-3 victory at the number one spot.
In singles action, Cardoso forced a third set 7-6, 3-6, 6-1 match, while Dalecka pushed Omaha's number one player to a 6-3, 7-5 battle. Kanyanut Sudsaard claimed the first set in her match before narrowly falling in a tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-4, 10-7. Abbie Peterson also fought to the wire, dropping 7-6, 7-5 in another close contest.
The Panthers look to build on their competitive play as they take on UT Southern before facing a strong Belmont squad to close the week.
