WATERLOO, Iowa — The UNI women's tennis team pushed the Omaha Mavericks to the edge in multiple matches, but was unable to come away with a team point in a 7-0 loss at the Black Hawk Tennis Club on Friday.

The Panthers found early success in doubles play as Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso delivered a strong 6-3 victory over Zoe Adkins and Khayli Buckels at the number one spot. Omaha would secure the doubles point however with victories at number two and number three, with Summer Shannon and Keegan VanPelt defeating Kim Zizek and Andjela Raznatovic, 6-2, while Kanyanut Sudsaard and Abbie Peterson fell to Nina Wiese and Katelynn Kock, 6-2.

Several singles matchups saw the Panthers battle deep into the best-of-three set matches. Dalecka put up a strong fight at number one singles but was defeated by Adkins in a 6-3, 7-5 match, while Cardoso forced a third set, but ultimately fell to Buckels, 7-6, 3-6, 6-1.

Zizek faced a tough opponent in the number three spot as Nina Wiese came out on top, 6-0, 6-3. Raznatovic battled in her match against Kock but lost in two close sets, 7-5, 6-4.

Kanyanut Sudsaard pushed Shannon to the limit, taking the first set and battling in a tight second set before falling 5-7, 6-4, 10-7. Peterson also pushed Pearsall to the edge, narrowly falling 7-6, 7-5.

The Panthers travel to Pulaski, Tennessee, on March 19 to compete against UT Southern at 3 p.m. CT.
