UNI women’s tennis returns home

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — After two weekends on the road, the UNI women's tennis team returns home to host a pair of matches. The Panthers will face St. Thomas on Friday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. CT, and SIU Edwardsville on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. CT.
Last weekend UNI faced North Dakota and Montana State in Grand Forks, N.D. The Panthers dropped in both matches by a score of 7-0.
In singles action against Montana State, Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso fell in identical 6-3, 6-2 matches, while Kanyanut Sudsaard also lost by the same score. Andjela Raznatovic and Lasya Mylavarapu were defeated 6-1, 6-0, and Kim Zizek fell 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles competition, the number one duo, Dalecka and Cardoso fell 6-2, Zizek and Raznatovic fell in the number two spot 6-0, while, Sudsaard and Mylavarapu were defeated 6-1.
Against North Dakota, Dalecka battled through three sets but fell 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Sudsaard also forced a close match but came up short, 4-6, 7-6, 12-10. Cardoso pushed her match to three sets but lost 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
Zizek fell 6-3, 6-3, while Raznatovic lost 6-4, 6-4. Mylavarapu fought through three sets but was unable to secure the win, falling 1-6, 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles action, seniors Dalecka and Cardoso battled but fell short, 7-6. Zizek and Raznatovic lost in a competitive match, 7-5. Meanwhile, Sudsaard and Mylavarapu were defeated 6-1.
