CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The 16th ranked UNI wrestling team returns for a full weekend of action this Saturday and Sunday as the Panthers travel to Wisconsin for the Jim Koch Open and Illinois for the Cougar Clash.

Northern Iowa returns to the mat for the first time since topping North Dakota State in its home dual opener, 27-11 inside the McLeod Center on Nov. 23. In the dual, the Panthers took seven of ten bouts, including five in bonus points. Julian Farber picked up a top-30 victory at 133 pounds, while Jared Simma (174 pounds) and Wyatt Voelker (heavyweight) each notched the 50th victories of their respective careers.

UNI has put on a strong showing at its first two open tournaments this year, particularly among its newcomer class. At the Grand View Open to kick off the season, Garret Rinken (133 pounds) and Ethan Basile (149 pounds) won their respective weight titles in the open divisions, while Jace Hedeman (133 pounds), Max Brady (141 pounds) and Logan Paradice (149 pounds) all won in their respective weight classes in the freshmen/sophomore divisions in their collegiate debuts.

Brady, along with Kyler Knaack (157 pounds), Jack Thomsen (165 pounds) and Izzy Moreno (174 pounds) all finished second in their weight classes prior to the Thanksgiving holiday at the Younes Hospitality Open in Nebraska.
