CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI volleyball team will close out the home portion of its 2025 schedule on Friday night as the Panthers play host to the UIC Flames in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) action.

UNI will hold a special senior citizen ticket special for the match with $5 off purchase for senior citizens aged 65+ with a valid ID. The Panthers will also celebrate Military Appreciation Night, with any military member or first responder receiving free admission with a valid ID.
Northern Iowa enters the final three-match stretch of the regular season with an opportunity to capture its 23rd MVC regular season title. With a win or Valparaiso loss on Friday at Belmont, the Panthers can clinch at least a share of the conference championship. A UNI win and Valparaiso loss would give the Panthers the title outright, plus the top-seed and home court advantage in this month's MVC Tournament.
UNI is riding a season-long 16-match winning streak heading into the week, tied for the second-longest active streak in Division I, including wins in its 13 league contests. The Panthers hold a 18-3 all-time lead on the Flames, including a 3-1 win over UIC back on Sept. 26 in Chicago to open league play.
The Panthers reached the 20-win mark for the 30th time in school history and fourth consecutive season on Tuesday with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Drake. For a second straight match, both Lily Dykstra and Cassidy Hartman tallied over 20 kills, with Dykstra posting a career-high 21 terminations in the win. Hartman and Jadyn Petersen both recorded double-doubles in a match where the Panthers put up a season-high 15 blocks as a team.
The Panthers are in the midst of a 49-match winning streak against MVC opponents in the regular season dating back to the start of the 2023 MVC schedule, the third-longest stretch in team history. UNI's last loss to an MVC opponent came in the 2022 regular season finale at Drake. The Panthers have also won 55 consecutive matches against MVC opponents overall (regular season and postseason), the nation's longest active streak.
Additionally, UNI head coach Bobbi Petersen is four wins away from passing former Panther softball coach Meredith Bakley as the university's all-time winningest female coach, and becoming Northern Iowa's second-winningest coach ever in any sport:
- Peter Mazula (Men's & Women's Tennis) - 725 victories
- Meredith Bakley (Softball) - 632 victories
- Bobbi Petersen (Volleyball) - 629 victories
- Ryan Jacobs (Softball) - 529 victories
UNI ranks second in all of Division I volleyball with 14.8 kills, third with 13.7 assists per set, fourth in team attacks per set (38.5) and seventh in opponent hitting percentage (.150). Hartman leads the MVC in kills per set (4.1) and has posted 20 matches with ten or more kills in 2025, including four outings with 20+ kills. Dykstra has recorded eight or more kills in 23 of 25 matches this year and ranks third in the MVC with four kills per frame.
Reese Booth leads Northern Iowa with 6.2 assists per set, while Petersen anchors the Panther backrow with 4.3 digs per frame and a team-high 22 service aces. At the net, Maryn Bixby has posted a team-high 90 blocks on the year, as Lindsay Oldendorf has recorded 58 total blocks.

SCOUTING UIC
The Flames make their final road trip of the regular season to Cedar Falls riding a seven-match winning streak, second-longest in the MVC to UNI. UIC has gone 9-2 in league play since falling to UNI in late September at home, and come to the McLeod Center following three consecutive 3-0 sweeps of Southern Illinois, Evansville and Indiana State.
Led by ninth year head coach Justin Ingram, the Flames boast the top blocking defense in the MVC with 2.4 blocks per set, led by Julieta Sandez. UIC also presents a challenge on offense with five Flames averaging at least two kills per set. At the service line Francesca Venturini leads with 26 aces on the season.
