UNI wrestling: Four earn silver medals at Younes Hospitality Open.

KEARNEY, Neb. --- Four Panthers picked up second place finishes on Saturday, as nine members of the UNI wrestling team medalled at the Younes Hospitality Open in Nebraska.

Northern Iowa combined for nine technical falls, led by freshmen Max Brady (141 pounds) and RJ Weston (157 pounds), who each recorded two tech falls on their way to the podium.

Two Panthers also picked up two pins, with Garrett Rinken (133 pounds) pinning Scott Fulsos (Unattached), and freshman Kyler Knaack (157 pounds) delivering the fastest pin of the tournament, sticking Francisco Duran (Midland) in just 1:36 in his collegiate debut.

At 133 pounds, Brady earned a second-place finish, joined by Kyler Knaack at 157 in the amateur division. Jack Thomsen (165 pounds) and Izzy Moreno (174 pounds) also earned silver medal finishes.

At 141 pounds, Connor Thorpe secured an impressive third-place finish. Rinken, Weston and Grant Stromberg (heavyweight) each battled their way to fourth-place showings, while Bowen Downey (125 pounds) rounded out his competition with a fifth-place finish.

UP NEXT
The Panthers return to action on Sunday, Nov. 23 as they host the North Dakota State Bison in Big 12 dual action for their home opener. Competition is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CT inside the McLeod Center with live coverage available on FloWrestling.
