Two-time MVC Player of the Year extends NBA contract through 2029-30 with Milwaukee.
MILWAUKEE, Wisc. --- Former UNI men's basketball guard AJ Green has agreed to a new four-year, $45 million contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks, as confirmed by ProMondo Sports and ESPN on Thursday.
The Cedar Falls native and former Panther standout, who has been a part of the Bucks organization since the 2022-23 season, will now be under contract with Milwaukee through the 2029-30 NBA season. Green was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the coming season.
Entering his fourth season in the NBA, Green has appeared in 164 games for the Bucks, averaging 5.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and one assist per game while shooting 42.7% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range. Green's role with Milwaukee has grown over the last three years, having played a career-high 73 games last season and shooting at least 40% from three-point range in all three years.
Green notably scored a career-high 27 points during his second NBA season in 2023-24 in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, including a playoff career-high 19 points against the Indiana Pacers in the first round of last season's NBA Playoffs. Last season, Green also contributed to the Bucks winning their first NBA Cup for the league's in-season tournament.
In his four seasons with the Panthers from 2018 to 2022, Green was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Year (2020, 2020) and helped Northern Iowa capture two regular season conference championships (2020, 2022), along with a bid to the National Invitation Tournament in 2022. A three-time All-MVC selection and the 2019 MVC Freshman of the Year, Green finished his collegiate career as UNI's fourth leading scorer all-time with 1,769 points and the program's all-time leader in three-point attempts (704) and career free throw percentage (90%).
Green and the Bucks tip off the 2025-26 NBA season on Oct. 22 when they host the Washington Wizards.
