Chase Knoche named MVC Male Track Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS --- UNI's Chase Knoche has been named the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) Male Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
The selection comes after Knoche clocked a winning time of 1:49.24 in the men's 800-meter run premier race at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational over the weekend, recording the 13th fastest time in Division I this season. Knoche also ran the third leg of the men's 4x400-meter relay in Iowa City, helping Northern Iowa post its fastest time in the event this season (3:12.73).
This is the second time Knoche has earned MVC Male Track Athlete of the Week honors in his career after previously doing so during the 2023-24 indoor season.
Indiana State's Niesha Anderson earned MVC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors, while the Sycamores' Rachel Mehringer and Murray State's Kayla Bell were named MVC Women's Co-Track Athletes of the Week. Will Staggs (Indiana State) was also named MVC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
Knoche and the Panthers return to action Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at both the Wartburg Indoor Invitational in Waverly and the DeLoss Dodds Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas.
