CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI track and field continues its run through the indoor season this Friday with a doubleheader of meet action, set to compete at the Iowa State's Bill Bergan Classic and Kansas State's Thane Baker Invitational.
Competition in Ames will kick off at 11:20 a.m. CT at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center, with action set to begin at 1:15 p.m. CT in Manhattan.
The Panthers returned to competition in their first meets of the 2026 calendar year last weekend with athletes competing at both the Minnesota Open and Hawkeye Invitational. In Minneapolis, Josey Dunbar claimed the top prize in the women's long (18' 8"), with Carter Accola winning the men's 60-meter hurdles in a season-best 8.22 seconds. Carter Morton finished first in the men's pole vault with a new career-best leap of 16' 5 ¼", with Spencer Kessel, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week, winning the men's shot put (59'). The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Ashton Hogrefe, Grant Batiste, Tyler Sickerson and Accola also took home first-place honors (3:33.97).
At the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Parker Kiewiet, the MVC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, captured the men's 400-meter dash title in 48.17 seconds with Amelia Hill winning the women's mile in 4:55.27 to earn conference women's track athlete of the week recognition.
