Panther swimming and diving gears up for senior weekend dual with Redbirds

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI swimming and diving team will celebrate its senior class this weekend as the Panthers welcome the Illinois State Redbirds to the Glen F. Henry Pool for a two-day dual this Friday and Saturday.
Competition will begin Friday with diving starting at 3 p.m. CT and swimming following at 5 p.m. Saturday's diving action will begin at 9 a.m. CT followed by swimming at 11 a.m. CT. Live results can be found on Meet Mobile (swimming) and Dive Meets (diving).Â
The Panthers will honor ten members of the senior class in their final home competition, including Olivia Chambers, Hallory Domnick, Waren Graeve, Abby Hutchins, Faith Larsen, Ema Lavigne, Maddie Moran, Meghan Pallett, Abby Steward and Hannah Taylor.
UNI and Illinois State have split its last seven dual meetings (3-3-1) with the Redbirds emerging on the winning end last year in Normal by a score of 198-155. The Panthers' last dual win over Illinois State came at home two years ago in an identical 198-155 score.
Northern Iowa will look to bounce back in its home pool after a 180-116 loss at Iowa State last weekend that saw the Panthers win five events. In the one-meter diving competition, Erica Peters topped the field with a career-best score of 269.95, punching her ticket to the NCAA Diving Zones in March while also finishing fourth in the three-meter event (264.50).
In swimming action, Morgan Meyer clinched a pair of first-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (52.24) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.67), while Larsen won the 50-yard freestyle (23.98) with a runner-up finish in the 100-yard freestyle (52.77). The 200-yard freestyle team of Abby Lear, Larsen, Meyer and Graeve also took first with a time of 1:36.21.
