UNI wrestling to host seven home events in 2024-25

Panther wrestling team unveils home dual opponents inside the McLeod Center, plus the NWCA Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships in the UNI-Dome.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI wrestling on Thursday announced its opponents for its six home duals inside the McLeod Center for the 2024-25 season, as well as its hosting and participation in the 2025 NWCA Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships inside the UNI-Dome.
While official dates and time are still to be determined, Panther fans can purchase new season tickets for the upcoming year of action on the mat through unipanthers.com, or by contacting the UNI Ticket Office at 319-273-4849 or by email at tickets@uni.edu. Individual dual tickets will also go on sale at a later date.
The Panther Train, led by 15th year head coach Doug Schwab, will welcome four Big 12 opponents to Cedar Falls this season. Rising conference foe South Dakota State and Oklahoma will make their way to the McLeod Center, as will perennial wrestling power Oklahoma State, who enters its first year under the leadership of former Olympic gold medalist David Taylor. In-state rival Iowa State also comes to town after a fourth-place team finish at the NCAA Championships in March.
Northern Iowa will also entertain a pair of non-conference opponents at home in Division II Nebraska-Kearney, as well as the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Last January, the Panthers battled the Cornhuskers down to the final bout in a thrilling 18-17 dual loss in Lincoln, the closest scoring dual in the series since UNI fell to Nebraska by two points in 1992.
In addition to six competitions in the McLeod Center, the NWCA Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships also return to the UNI-Dome for a second straight year, Jan. 11-12. Last year's event saw 93 teams from across six divisions compete, and will see the return of Division I men's competition this coming winter, with the Panthers expected to participate for the first time since 2012.Â
