CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI head men's basketball coach Ben Jacobson has announced a pair of updates to the program's staff heading into the 2024-25 season.
Haley Langstraat has been promoted to Director of Basketball Operations, having spent the previous three years as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations. Ike Hermer will serve as the program's Video Coordinator. This role will see a significant expansion of responsibilities due to recent NCAA rule changes, allowing a fourth on-court coach to be present and participate in off-campus recruiting.
"Haley and Ike have been instrumental in the day-to-day operations of our men's basketball program for a number of years," said Jacobson. "I am both excited and grateful that they will continue to work with our players and staff going forward."
Langstraat, who joined the UNI staff full-time in 2021, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Panther men's basketball program, including the team's budget, travel, quality control, NCAA compliance, scheduling and fundraising among other duties. A former student manager for the Panthers, she also helps support the coaches in organizing team class schedules and recruiting calendars and also oversees the team's student managers. Langstraat graduated from UNI in May 2021 with a degree in recreation, tourism and nonprofit leadership.
"Haley has been a consistent and influential staff member going back to her days as a student manager," Jacobson explained. "She continues to meet challenges, take on new responsibilities and perform at an extremely high level. Haley's attention to detail and care factor are unmatched. We are very fortunate to have Haley running our basketball program as our Director of Basketball Operations."
A two-time graduate of the University of Minnesota, Hermer will oversee video operations and analysis for the Panthers for practice and game film, as well as scouting purposes and on-court coaching duties. Prior to arriving in Cedar Falls in 2019, Hermer spent five seasons as Minnesota's Assistant Director of Player Personnel for men's basketball, creating scouting reports, scheduling recruiting visits and directing the team's youth camps. He also served as the Golden Gophers' Assistant Director of Basketball Operations, as well as the team's academic advisor.
"I'm excited for both our program and for Ike," Jacobson said. "He has done so many quality things for our program over the past five years. This new role allows Ike to expand his impact and our program will benefit from his knowledge and feel for the game. The opportunity to have Ike stay with our program as our Video Coordinator is a home run for us."
