CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI tennis will begin the final two-week stretch of the non-conference dual schedule this weekend as the Panthers visit Saint Louis and SIU Edwardsville.
Friday's dual against the Billikens will begin at 1:30 p.m. CT at the St. Clair Tennis Courts in O'Fallon, Illinois, while Saturday's competition against the Cougars will start at 2:30 p.m. CT at the Edwardsville Y Meyer Center.
The Panthers head south after splitting their last four home competitions, which included a 7-0 shutout of Iowa Central last Friday and a 6-1 loss to North Dakota on Sunday.
Darta Dalecka enters the weekend after winning both of her singles matches last week and leads UNI with an 11-9 singles mark. Andrijana Brkic sits at 7-5 in singles play, while Kanyanut Sudsaard, Issa Sullivan and Kim Zizek have won three matches each. In doubles, Brkic and Zizek lead with six victories as Northern Iowa's top duo, while Lorena Cardoso and Dalecka have won five doubles matches as a pair.
The Panthers are 5-1 all-time in duals against Saint Louis, coming up short in a 7-0 loss to the Billikens in their last meeting in 2020-21. Sandra Giles enters Friday's meet on a five-match winning streak in singles with a team-best 8-3 record, with Kseniia Aleshina and Norhan Hesham each posting six wins a piece. Elizabeth Mintusova and Aleshina lead the Billikens in doubles play with a 6-2 record.
UNI holds a 1-3 record against SIU Edwardsville, narrowly falling to the Cougars at home last season in a 4-3 dual. At 5-0 on the season, the Cougars host the Panthers after a pair of 5-2 wins against Milwaukee and St. Thomas last weekend. Amelia Gorman leads the way for SIU Edwardsville with a 14-2 singles record, Jill Lambrchts sitting at 13-2 and Margaux Guibal Britt and Jordan Schifano each posting ten wins each. Lambrechts and Schifano lead the Cougars in doubles with a 10-3 record.
