Women’s basketball heads to Green Bay for its first road test

UNI women’s basketball hits the road for the first time this season in a matchup at Green Bay.

CEDAR FALLS --- UNI women's basketball heads to Green Bay for its first road contest of the 2024-25 season on Saturday, November 9. The Panthers opened the 2023-24 season against the Phoenix inside the McLeod Center which saw a 78-67 victory for the Panthers.
UNI is coming off a 99-56 victory over UW-La Crosse on Tuesday. The Panthers recorded their first all-time victory over La Crosse in their first matchup since 1982. Coach Warren is now 13-5 in season openers and 8-3 in openers inside the McLeod Center. In the matchup, Grace Boffeli recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. With her 11 rebounds, Boffeli became UNI's no. 2 all-time rebounder with 892 career rebounds, passing Megan Maahs' (2016-21) 882 career rebounds. Four players scored their first points in a UNI uniform including Kaylee Corbin, Kaylynn Janes, Eliana Sheplee, and Elise Jaeger. Katy Reyerson made two three-pointers against the Eagles, a new single-game career high. Her six points tied a career-high. Bri Robinson's 10 points in the game set a new career high. UNI's 99 points in the win is the most by the Panthers in a season opener in program history.
UNI is looking for its fourth victory over the Phoenix in program history and second straight after last season's 78-67 victory inside the McLeod Center. In last season's matchup, the duo of Maya McDermott and Emerson Green combined for 32 points (16 each) while Grace Boffeli recorded her first double-double of the 2023-24 season with 14 points and 10 boards.
The Panthers continued an active program-record 533-game three-pointer streak that started December 6, 2008, versus Green Bay (6-of-19) following an 0-of-14 outing from behind the three-point arc December 3, 2008, against Northern Illinois. UNI drained 10 three-pointers against the Eagles.
Green Bay is coming off a season-opening loss to Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas which saw the Wildcats take home a 92-45 victory. Natalie McNeal led the Phoenix with 14 points and seven rebounds on the day. Callie Genke had eight, while Maddy Schreiber and Jenna Guyer also tacked on seven points.
