CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The first dual of the 2024-25 UNI wrestling season will see an early matchup of top Big 12 opponents, including a highly anticipated top-four matchup at 184 pounds when the Panthers host No. 13 South Dakota State on Sunday.
Due to UNI hosting the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Volleyball Championships, this dual will be held inside the UNI-Dome. Fans can catch up on guidelines for ticketing, parking and entrances for this special dual by clicking HERE.
Live coverage of the dual can be found on FloWrestling as well as CFU Channel 15 with Jeff Bradley and Jim Miller on the call. Live results will also be available online through TrackWrestling. Tickets can be purchased online through the UNI Ticket Office, or by calling 319-273-4849.
UNI will also celebrate Military/First Responder Appreciation Day with free admission for those who present a military ID at the gate.
Northern Iowa begins its dual schedule after opening the new season last weekend with five champions crowned at the Grand View Open. Additional reigning NCAA champion Parker Keckeisen represented the Panther Train for a third straight year at the National Wrestling Coaches Association's (NWCA) All-Star Classic at Penn State.
The Panthers hold a 40-6-1 dual record all-time against the Jackrabbits and are 5-3 against SDSU under head coach Doug Schwab. UNI will meet SDSU for the first time since January 2022 with both teams having split the last six matchups.
UNI posted an 8-6 dual record in 2023-24 and went 6-2 against Big 12 challengers en route to a fifth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships.
Anticipated matchups for Sunday's dual include a top-four battle between Keckeisen, UNI's four-time All-American and SDSU's Bennett Burge, who is ranked fourth nationally and placed fourth at 184 pounds at both the 2024 Big 12 and NCAA Championships.
Other projected matchups include Wyatt Voelker taking on No. 8 Zach Glazier at 197 pounds, Jared Simma battling All-American and third-ranked Cade DeVos at 174 and reigning Big 12 champion Ryder Downey facing off with No. 17 Cobe Siebrecht at 157.
ÂNine Panthers head into Sunday's matchup ranked in both the Intermat and FloWrestling rankings:

SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
South Dakota State makes its first trip to Cedar Falls in four years with a 1-0 dual record, coming from a 49-0 win over Augustana in Brookings on Nov. 15. UNI and SDSU have split their last six dual matchups.
The Jackrabbits crowned six champions to open the season at North Dakota State's Bison Open earlier this month and four additional title winners at the DWU Open.
SDSU returns all ten starters from its roster last season that placed third at the Big 12 Championships and 13th at the NCAAs, one spot ahead of UNI. The Jackrabbits return three of their four All-Americans this year in Tanner Jordan (125 pounds), Cade DeVos (174 pounds) and Bennett Berge (184 pounds).
The Jackrabbits signed four transfers that are familiar to wrestling fans in Iowa, all joining the SDSU program from the University of Iowa in Zach Glazier (197 pounds), Cobe Siebrecht (157 pounds), Cade Siebrecht (149 pounds) and Drake Rhodes (165 pounds).
SDSU sent two All-Americans to University Park last weekend for the NWCA All-Star Classic. Tanner Jordan fell to No. 2 Jore Volk (Wyoming) in an 8-2 decision in a battle of two of the Big 12s bests, while Cade DeVos fell to #2 Levi Haines (Penn State), 7-0.
