CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI student-athletes produced another successful semester in the classroom during the fall 2023 term.
The fall semester produced a term GPA of 3.34, while the department's cumulative GPA registered at 3.38. Both marks surpassed the metrics laid out in Panthers Rising, the athletic department's strategic plan.
"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes after another successful semester in the classroom this past fall," said Stacia Eggers, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Services/SWA. "This past semester not only shows our student-athlete's dedication to their teams, but their continued commitment to academic success during a busy time of year."
Of the university's 15 varsity programs, eight notched a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher with women's cross country leading the way with a department-best 3.79 average last semester. The women's cross country program also recorded the most improved semester GPA from fall 2022 to fall 2023, improving by 0.26 points over the course of the year. Panther men's basketball led all men's teams in the previous term with a 3.46 semester GPA.
