Panther cross country unveils 2023 schedule

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa ---- UNI cross country has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season, featuring meets across Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee and Oklahoma. Start times for competitions will be announced at a later date.
The Panthers will open the 2023 campaign on Labor Day weekend in-state at Iowa State's on-campus course before heading to central Illinois for a preview of Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) competition at Illinois State's Redbird Invite on September 15. UNI runners will compete at two meets to end the first month of the season with athletes heading south to Missouri's Gans Creek Classic on September 29, as well as nearby Waverly, Iowa for Wartburg's Dan Huston Invite on September 30.
October begins with the Panthers' final regular season meet at Bradley on October 13 in Peoria, Illinois before heading to Nashville for the MVC Championships, hosted by Belmont at Percy Warner Park. UNI is slated to compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet on November 10 at Oklahoma State, with top qualifying runners advancing to the NCAA Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The Panthers are slated to return 13 total athletes from their 2022 roster, including Kate Crawford and Emma Hoins, who placed in the top-30 at last year's MVC Championships. On the men's side, juniors Brady Griebel and Drake Hanson look to lead the way for UNI, with Hanson coming off a strong track and field season where he cracked the program's top-five all-time in the outdoor 800-meter run and competed at the NCAA West Regional meet in Sacramento, California.
