CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The 2023 edition of Rally in the Valley, presented by Cedar Valley Dental Associates, set an all-time fundraising record with $271,155 raised during the April 22 event in the McLeod Center.
This year's fundraising total surpasses the previous record of $264,170, which was set in 2018.
"The Panther Family continues to respond to the needs of our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics David Harris. "We are so thankful for a record breaking night at Rally in the Valley in which we were able to raise over $270,000. On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, I want to thank each and every person that donated, sponsored, attended and made a purchase at Rally in the Valley. We had an amazing night together and we look forward to next year!"
This year's silent auction generated $80,195, while the live auction raised $132,400. The total generated from the live auction also marks the highest ever in the event's 15-year history.
Alongside the auctions, this year's event included a social with four social entree stations and selection of beverages. The program included comments from UNI President Dr. Mark Nook, Director of Athletics David Harris and a panel of student-athletes, including Austin Phyfe (men's basketball), Megan Witte (volleyball), Kyle Biscoglia (wrestling), and two-sport standout Layanna Green (volleyball, track and field).
"What an amazing display of support and commitment from our folks," said Nathaniel Smith, UNI's Assistant Athletic Director for Revenue Generation. "We are so grateful for all of the people who had a hand in making this year's event possible. Whether you donated an item, attended the event, won an auction item, or simply encouraged others to participate, thank you!"
All of the money raised at the Rally in the Valley event goes toward student-athlete scholarships.
