Panther redshirt senior sets new personal best to kickoff 2023 outdoor season.
AUSTIN, Tex. --- UNI sprinter Isaiah Trousil kicked off the 2023 outdoor season in style as the Panther redshirt senior won the men's 100-meter dash at the 95th running of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Saturday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Trousil, who was an All-Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) athlete last spring and competed as an unattached athlete during the indoor season, ran a 10.04 second mark in Friday's preliminary heats with a 4.3 meter per second wind at his back, finishing in second place. The West Burlington, Iowa native would clock a 10.16 in Saturday's final, edging out Alabama's Tarsis Orogot by 0.01 seconds. The mark is a new career-best for Trousil by 0.07 seconds, ranks first in the MVC and is the sixth fastest time in the nation early into the outdoor season.
Trousil's victory is the third of his career in the 100-meters, after taking first place in the event at South Dakota's USD Twilight last spring (10.48) and at Iowa's Musco Twilight in 2018 (10.57).
