UNI track & field: Coover named MVC Men's Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year

ST. LOUIS --- UNI assistant track and field coach Jeff Coover has been named the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) Men's Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.
Coover, who has been a full-time member of the Panther coaching staff since 2019 focusing on jumps and multi-events, helped coach seven Panthers to All-MVC honors at February's MVC Indoor Championships in Chicago. Under Coover, the UNI men in jumps and multi-events scored 68 of the Panthers' 123 total points and a third place team finish.
The La Jolla, Calif. native coached Carter Morton to three individual titles in the long jump, triple jump and heptathlon at the MVC Indoor Championships. Totaling 34 points towards the team standings, Morton was named the meet's most valuable athlete.
UNI track and field returns to competition March 31-April 1 at the Redbird Challenge in Normal, Illinois.
