Panther senior takes aim at qualifying for NCAA's in one-meter competition.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI senior diver Taylor Hogan will take to the boards one final time in her career as she represents the purple and gold at the NCAA Zone D Diving competition on Wednesday at the Jean F. Freeman Aquatics Center in Minneapolis.
Hogan will be among 51 divers competing for a spot in this month's NCAA Championships on the one-meter boards to be held March 15-18 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The top five divers in each women's event will automatically qualify for the national championships, with additional at-large spots available.
Hogan will compete at the NCAA Zones for the second straight season after finishing in 42nd place in the three-meter competition last year with a score of 218.15. The Waterloo, Iowa native scored a career-best 270.70 points on the one-meter boards in a triangular meet with Iowa State and West Virginia this year, achieving the qualifying score of 260 points to reach the NCAA Zones. Her top score ranks sixth highest in UNI history.
Hogan finished in 11th place in one-meter competition at last month's MVC Championships in Iowa City, scoring a 236.43. She also notched a 10th place finish on the three-meter board with a score of 238.32.
Hogan, who won the three-meter competition at the 2022 MVC Championships and was also named the conference's Diver of the Year, is a two-sport athlete, also playing second base for the UNI softball team.
