UNI defeats UW-Whitewater, but falls to Milwaukee. Panthers return home for MVC home dual opener on March 19 vs. UIC.

MILWAUKEE --- UNI tennis picked up a weekend split with a pair of road matches in Wisconsin, looking to build on its recent success at home. The Panthers handed Wisconsin-Whitewater its first dual loss of the season on Friday night in a 5-2 win, before falling to the Milwaukee Panthers on Saturday afternoon 5-2.

Andrijana Brkic secured her 21st singles win of the season on Friday with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Whitewater's Cassie Lee, while Darta Dalecka came out on top against Gianna Nikoleit 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 in a three-set battle.

Kim Zizek also snagged a straight sets win against Kellie Ha on Friday, 6-4, 6-0, as Thaissa Moreira defeated Molly Asfeld 6-3, 6-2. Issa Sullivan would fall short to Faith Nosek 6-1, 6-3 with Lorena Cardoso dropping a thrilling three-set showdown to Kasey Schlicht, 1-6, 6-4, 8-10.

All three of UNI's doubles pairings walked away with wins against Whitewater with Cardoso and Dalecka defeating Schlict/Ha 6-3, and Brkic/Zizek sweeping Lee/Nikoleit, 6-1. Moreira and Sullivan defeates over Courtney Day and Ha 6-3.

Brkic continued her winning ways on Saturday with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Milwaukee's Anika Tylek, while Kanyanut Sudsaard earned her second singles victory of the season in a 6-3, 6-3 win over Giogia Cavestro.

Dalecka fell short to Babette Burgersdijk in straight sets, as Cardosa finished behind Nadiia Kovieva 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Zizek came up short to Alice Shields 6-0, 5-7, 6-0, with Moreira falling to Sara Simova 6-4, 6-0.

In doubles, Brkic and Zizek would fall to Koieva/Cavestro 6-2, while Sullivan and Moriera also fell short against Shield and Stejskolova in a 6-2 loss.
