Contributions can now be made to sports-specific support funds, or collectively to the athletic department fund.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The University of Northern Iowa's annual day of giving, "Live Purple, Give Gold," will kick off on Thursday, March 30 in a 24-hour campaign to help support various areas of UNI, including Panther athletics.
"This year we decided to do something a little different for this special day," said Director of Athletics David Harris. "We are offering our fans and supporters the opportunity to donate directly to the sport of their choice. In previous years, donating to the overall department was the only opportunity. We understand that many people have great passion for a particular sport based on relationships, previous experience or their own athletics interests. Our coaches and student-athletes deserve all the support that they can get and this is another chance for those that love UNI Athletics to make a difference," said Harris. Â
Supporters of UNI Athletics can contribute to the athletic department as a whole or contribute towards a specific sports team of their choice. Individual team pages will go live on March 30, with early contributions now being accepted. Each team has a goal for the day and some include donor matches to help increase the impact of the day. Contributions can be made now by visiting give.uni.edu/live-purple-give-gold-2023 and designating gifts to any sports team(s).Â
Live Purple, Give Gold saw $16,994 raised during the 2022 campaign for general athletic contributions, and nearly $275,000 raised university-wide last year.
