Panther tennis drops back-to-back duals to Braves, Redbirds.

UNI looks to rebound hosting Valparaiso and Missouri State at home next weekend.
NORMAL, Ill. --- UNI tennis faced a pair of stout Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) opponents over the weekend as the Panthers fell to the Bradley Braves in a narrow 4-3 dual loss on Saturday, before falling in a 7-0 shutout to the Illinois State Redbirds on Sunday.
Opening the weekend on Saturday afternoon in Peoria, Andrijana Brkic earned her sixth consecutive singles victory with a three-set win over Bradley's Mariia Pukhina. Brkic dropped the first set 7-6 in a tiebreak before rolling to 6-0 wins in the final two frames. Kim Zizek also put up a strong performance against Bradley, defeating Maria Bezmenova in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3. This win evened out Zizek's singles record to 6-6 for the season.Â
At the No. 6 singles spot, Kanyanut Sudsaard snagged her second singles match of the season over Alexandra Hildreth 6-0, 7-5. Issa Sullivan and Thaissa Moreira would snap a two-match skid in doubles sweeping Bradley's Mariia Pukhina and Alexandra Hildreth, 6-4.Â
The Panthers faced a major test in Sunday's dual in Normal, facing off against a Redbird team picked second in MVC preseason poll. Brkic, playing in the top singles spot, saw her six-match winning streak snapped in a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Illinois State's Tijana Zlatanovic, while Darta Dalecka put up a fight in a tight second set in a 6-1, 7-5 loss to Alexandra Abysova.

The Panthers return for a pair of MVC duals on their home courts next weekend, hosting Valparaiso at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday. UNI will take on Missouri State the following morning at 10 a.m. CT. Venue is subject to change based on weather conditions.
