CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Panther soccer adds two more players to an impressive 2023 signing class.
While 2024 verbal commitments start to roll in, UNI soccer continues to keep its eye on the future with two more signees for the 2023 season. The Panthers added two players from the Legends FC club team in Southern California midfielder Denise Camanera and midfielder Giselle Loza.
Denise Camanera | Midfielder | Norco HS | Riverside, Calif.
Camanera will join UNI after spending time recovering from an ACL tear that occurred in the fall of 2021. Before her injury, Camanera spent several years with Legends FC and was named the team captain in 2019. Along with being team captain, Camanera was named the DA Player of the Year for 04 Legends Academy. "We are excited to add Denise to our team!" says Head Coach Bruce Erickson.
"She brings an attacking flair and possession game to our midfield and is a connector and a creator with a pedigree playing for Legends FC that will allow her to compete to get on the field immediately. Denise loves the game and positively influences every team she's played on."
Giselle Loza | Midfielder | Alta Loma HS | Alta Loma, Calif.
Loza has spent the last four years as a member of the Alta Loma Varsity team along with being a member of the Legends FC 05 club team. In her senior season with the Alta Loma Braves, Loza led the Braves into the postseason. The Braves and Loza made it to the second round of California's postseason before being eliminated by the West Lake Warriors.
"Giselle is a great addition to our attacking unit," says Head Coach Bruce Erickson. "She's dynamic with the ball while having the ability to be a scorer too. Giselle has great potential and we look forward to helping her reach that."
