CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — After coming up short in the first home opener, UNI will hit the road for back-to-back duals this weekend at Northern Illinois and Chicago State. Play against the NIU Huskies will begin at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday afternoon in the Nelson Tennis Center at Chick Evans Fieldhouse in DeKalb, while the Panthers will take on the Cougars at 10 a.m. CT at the H-F Racquet Club in Homewood, Ill. on Sunday.
After outstanding doubles performances from the duos of Darta Dalecka/Lorena Cardoso and Andrijana Brkic/ Kim Zizek this past weekend, the Panthers now hold an overall 7-10 doubles record for the dual season. Andrijana Brikic holds the highest winning singles record 17-3 for this season, while Kim Zizek sits behind at 2-1 in singles.Â
Northern Illinois is coming off an impressive 5-2 win at Marquette last Thursday and currently holds a 3-4 record for the season. Diana Lukyanova leads the Huskies with a 21-7 record in singles this year, while her doubles partner Iullia Dmitriev have combined for a doubles record of 11-5.
Chicago State are 1-5 in dual meets this season, facing off against UNI in the third of 3 consecutive days of home competition. The Cougars will host Eastern Michigan on Friday and Omaha on Saturday. CSU's Manuella Eloundou Nga stands out for CSU with a 3-0 record in singles play this season, while Cali Fuller and Sofiya Sedovich are 3-1 as a doubles pairing.
