
Panther track & field announces 2023 outdoor schedule

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI track and field has announced its 2022-23 outdoor schedule, featuring seven regular season competitions, including four in the state of Iowa.
The Panthers will open the outdoor season at the end of March in Normal, Illinois at the Redbird Challenge, hosted by Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) rival Illinois State. UNI will head east a week later to Illinois for the Fighting Illini Challenge in Champaign on April 8.
UNI returns to Iowa for four straight meets in-state throughout April, beginning with the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines on April 14. After visiting Coralville and the Musco Twilight on April 22, the eyes of the sport will descend on the Blue Oval in Des Moines April 27-29 as the Panthers compete at the 113th running of the historic Drake Relays at Drake Stadium. UNI will also send athletes to nearby Indianola for the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College.
After closing out regular season competition on May 5 at the USD Tune-Up in Vermillion, the Panthers will return to Normal for the MVC Outdoor Championships May 12-14. The Panther men finished in 3rd place at last year's conference meet, while the UNI women took home 5th place.
The road to the national championships will run through Sacramento this spring, as UNI is slated to compete in the NCAA's West Preliminary Round May 24-27 on the Sacramento State campus. For the first time since 2019, the NCAA Championships will be held at Mike Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas June 7-10.
