UNI divers sweep podium in inaugural Panther Diving Invite

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- Freshman Trista Thomspon recorded the seventh-best one-meter springboard score in school history and secured an NCAA zones cut on Saturday as UNI diving hosted its first-ever home diving meet on Saturday with the Panther Diving Invite, securing first-place in all three events.
Opening the afternoon on the three-meter springboards, Erica Peters led the way for the Panthers who claimed the top four spots on the podium, scoring a 247.90 to take first-place. Hannah Taylor followed in second-place (239.85) with Thomspon in third (232.05) and Avery Hogan in fourth (231.15). Maddie Moran took home sixth-place with a score of 212.60, as Abby Hutchins rounded out the UNI field in eighth-place (191.85).
In the one-meter competition, Thompson bested her career-high score from the Hawkeye Invitational last month by winning the event with a score of 267.80. Hutchins placed second (247.80) with Taylor in third (240.75), Peters in fourth (237.25) and Hogan in fifth (214.00). Moran placed tenth on the one-meter boards (187.05).
UNI's combination of Thompson, Moran and Peters claimed first-place in the team diving competition (254.45), with the team of Hutchins, Taylor and Hogan placing second (241.80).

Panther swimmers and divers will return to action on Saturday, January 13 as UNI hosts Iowa State in dual competition on Senior Day at 2 p.m. CT at the Glen F. Henry Pool.
