Hoins Lands on MVC Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo— The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) announced the 2023 cross country Scholar-Athlete Team on Wednesday. UNI junior Emma Hoins landed on the women's academic team with a 3.84 GPA. Hoins is majoring in athletic training and rehab studies.
The Waverly, Iowa native led the Panther women at the 2023-24 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Cross Country Championships in Nashville, Tenn. on October 27, clocking in at a time of 21:39 to place 14th overall in the women's 6K. Along with receiving all-conference recognition, honorable mention.
To receive MVC Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must finish among the first 20 runners at the conference championship, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and be a sophomore in athletic and academic standing.
Hoins and the Panthers return to action this Friday in Stillwater, Oklahoma to compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional starting at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 6K while the men's 10K will follow.
