UNI swimming: Larsen aims for Olympic Trials cut at U.S. Open Championships

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — For just the second time ever, a UNI swimmer will be represented at the Toyota U.S. Open Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.Â
Faith Larsen is set to hit the pool on Thursday to swim in the 50-meter freestyle at approximately 10:42 a.m. CT in the preliminary heats. Finals are scheduled to begin at approximately 6 p.m. CT.
Last season, Larsen became the first UNI swimmer to compete at the Toyota U.S. open, swimming a career-best 26.25 in the 50-meter freestyle preliminary round, and ultimately finishing eighth place in the C-final (26.53). This year, Larsen enters in as the 62nd seed out of 92 swimmers, with a seeded time of 25.98. The time standard to qualify for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in the 50-meter freestyle in 25.69.
Larsen is the reigning Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) champion for the 50-yard freestyle, and currently holds the top-spot in the MVC this season for the 50-yard freestyle (22.54). Larsen also holds the UNI record in the 50-yard freestyle with a 22.50.
