Three Panthers tabbed to MVFC All-Newcomer Team

UNI’s Tye Ewards, Jahsiah Galvan, and Dalesean Staley were named to the 2023 MVFC All-Newcomer Team.
CEDAR FALLS — The Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) released their 2023 All-Newcomer team on Tuesday morning as voted on by head coaches, sports information personnel, and members of the media.
This season, senior running back Tye Edwards, redshirt freshman defensive back Dalesean Staley, and redshirt freshman linebacker Jahsiah Galvan were named to the All-Newcomer Team.
Tye Edwards - RB
A native of Palatka, Florida, Tye Edwards comes to the Panthers this season after a successful career at Hutchinson Community College (HCC) and a year at UTSA. At HCC, Edwards helped lead the Blue Dragons to an NJCAA National Title and was named the championship MVP after 139 rushing yards and two touchdowns. For the Panthers this season, he finished with 536 rushing yards in nine games and an average of 4.9 yards per carry. Edwards recorded five touchdowns on the season, all on the ground. He brought in 10 receptions for a total of 93 yards as well.
Jahsiah Galvan - LB
A redshirt freshman from West Liberty, Iowa, Jahsiah Galvan led UNI with 77 total tackles, the ninth-best mark in the MVFC. He recorded an interception against Youngstown State and had a season-high 11 tackles against Illinois State. Galvan tallied 5.5 tackles for a loss of 15 yards.
Dalesean Staley - DB
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Dalesean Staley recorded 70 total tackles, the 18th-best mark in the MVFC. The redshirt freshman picked off three passes, the third-highest mark in the MVFC, and deflected seven more. He had a season-high 10 tackles against Missouri State.
