Panther men's basketball takes win streak on the road to Indiana State

UNI looks for fourth straight victory in Saturday's battle against the Sycamores.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa ---Â UNI men's basketball takes its three-game winning streak on the road this weekend as the Panthers visit the Indiana State Sycamores at the Hulman Center in southern Indiana.

The Panthers swept Indiana State last season with a pair of narrow wins for the first regular season sweep of the Sycamores since the 2014-15 season. While UNI has historically struggled on the road at Indiana State with a 9-21 all-time record in Terre Haute, the Panthers will look to post consecutive road wins against the blue and white for the first time since 2013-14 and 2014-15.

The Panther offense hummed in the first half with stellar ball movement and offensive output as UNI completed the regular season sweep of Valparaiso on Wednesday night with a 77-66 home win. For the first since Feb. 2020 against Loyola-Chicago, all five UNI starters scored in double-digit figures as the Panthers picked up their fourth consecutive home win.

Bowen Born led UNI with 18 points in UNI's 11-point victory, as Tytan Anderson recorded his MVC-leading ninth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Duax scored 15 points with 7 boards, while James Betz scored 12 points with 6 rebounds and a career-high tying 6 assists. Trey Campbell rounded out UNI's starting five in scoring with 10 points.

Born has averaged 19.4 points per game in league play this season, and ranks third in the MVC in total points scored (393) and second in overall average (18.7 points per game). He is also 5 points shy of scoring his 900th career point, a mark only 56 other Panthers have reached

Both Jacobson and Altman have won 182 games in league play. Former Oklahoma State coach Henry P. Iba won 187 games against conference opponents from 1934-70.

The Sycamores return home following a tough 70-68 loss at Drake on Tuesday night. Indiana State. Indiana State led the Bulldogs by one point with 17 seconds to go before Drake's D.J. Wilkins hit a game-winning three-point shot with two seconds to play.
After starting the season with a 7-4 mark in non-conference play, the Sycamores rattled off a 6-0 start to MVC play, one of their hottest starts in years. Indiana State however has struggled as of late, dropping 5 straight games by an average score of 6.4 points. Under the leadership of second year head coach Josh Schertz, the Sycamores were picked 7th in the MVC preseason poll with redshirt senior guard Cameron Henry named Preseason Third Team All-MVC.
Graduate guard Courvoisier McCauley leads Indiana State with 16.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while Henry leads the Sycamores with 51.8% shooting accuracy on 10.7 points a game, plus 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Henry also leads the Sycamores in steals (29) and blocks (9). Cooper Neese enters Saturday's matchup averaging 9.9 points per game.
Indiana State leads the conference in overall shooting at 47.3%, as well as three-point field goal attempts per game (27).
