HIGH SCHOOL:Â James Betz was a four-year varsity player at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School, playing his senior season under the direction of Coach Jake Young. The 6'6 forward earned second team all-conference honors as a freshman before earning a spot on an all-state team in his sophomore campaign. As a junior in 2017-18, Betz averaged 15.4 points per game, shot 30-76 from beyond the arc and grabbed 6.9 rebounds a game. Betz capped off his junior season with 2nd team all-state honors and earned the honor again after his senior campaign.Â
